Anne Irving and John Patrick established Irving Patrick Consulting in 2020. Based in Lincoln, they work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK. Their clients include private owners of heritage, parish churches, local councils and national heritage organisations.

Finding his vocation in the Church of England before using his skills and experience as a heritage consultant, John’s ministry began in the Diocese of Chester in 1989 before serving in various Lincolnshire parishes. In 2012, John was appointed Subdean of Lincoln Cathedral. He was a long-standing member of Lincoln DAC and chair for five years. John has considerable experience in the care, preservation and maintenance of Listed Buildings, and making the best use of Church buildings. He is well versed in helping organisations to develop new audiences, and undertake community consultations.

Anne has a PhD in archaeology and is a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries. She has worked in the heritage sector for over fifteen years at North Lincolnshire Museum, Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire/Archaeological Project Services, and Lincoln Cathedral, initially as Grants and Donations Manager before becoming Programme Manager for the £16m ‘Connected’ project. Anne’s broad range of experience encompasses project management and development, business planning and fundraising.

Chris Hartley

Working for decades as a joiner, Chris is a skilled craftsman with an all-round knowledge of the building trade. He uses his years of practical site management to help IPC deliver capital projects.

Janet Spavold

Janet is a retired university lecturer and author, with an extensive knowledge of medieval and later history, industrial archaeology, and vernacular architecture. She supports IPC in their research and interpretation of heritage buildings.
